As a veteran of the Royal Horse Artillery, I had inside knowledge of the forces, this coupled with a few years working in my brothers camping shop in North London, meant that I was well placed when redundancy struck in 1995. On finding I didn’t have a job and with a new baby, I used my redundancy money to buy our first batch of stock for the VJ (Victory in Japan) day commemorations, rented a market stall in our local town on 24th October 1995 and ‘Walk This Way’ begun.
Since then we have acquired 3 more boys and moved house twice. The final move was to a farm in the Scottish Borders, where we now happily live with our menagerie of chickens, turkeys ducks and geese.
The business has changed shape over the years and in 2004 we bought the shop in Coldstream and gave up the market, (although still cant resist hanging our ‘Flash’ outside!)
Trevor’s interest in the military has given rise to ‘The Bunker’ micro museum which now lives in the basement at the shop and visitors are welcome to come and visit for free. (please see separate tab with full details).
We love being in retail and in February of 2019 we launched a new project and went e-commerce. Over the coming few months we hope to have most of our stock online.
We hope the business will continue to thrive and grow over the coming years and look forward to welcoming all who visit.
