Dunkirk medal evacuation certificate: The Dunkirk Medal is an unofficial commemorative medal created by the town of Dunkirk to commemorate the defense of the town & surrounding area during May and June 1940. Initiated in 1960 it was originally only awarded to French service personnel. In 1970 it was also awarded to any Allied members involved in Operation Dynamo, the evacuation of Allied forces from the Dunkirk sector between 29 May and 3 June and those soldiers evacuated from the beaches.
This certificate was presented to W LYNN of the Coldstream Guards. It is possible to see the faint outline of the official watermark in the middle of the picture.
