Our suggestions for military places to visit in and around the Scottish Borders – Part 1

Kings Own Scottish Borderers museum

Unfortunately it appear the COVID epidemic has taken it’s toll on many events and activites over the last few months. Not least of all our friends the wonderful team over at Berwick Barracks which houses the Kings Own Scottish Borderers museum. Please check website/social media for revised opening times and conditions. (https://www.kosb.co.uk/museum/)

The museum is Located within Berwick Barracks and is part of English Heritage. The admission fee provides access to the Regimental Museum, Berwick Town Museum & Art Gallery and the exhibition by Beat of Drum.  You can while away a very interesting couple of hours looking at the exhibitions and, if there are any,  enjoying the various events within the castle.

When you have finished,  grab lunch in Berwick town and after you are suitably fed & watered take a walk around Berwick Town’s Elizabethan Walls from which you can see into the Barracks at various points.  (https://www.visitberwick.com/where-to-go/berwicks-elizabethan-walls/)
